Our Statement of Faith and Beliefs
1. The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as originally written were God breathed, verbally and in every part. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The King James Version of Scripture is the official translation of this church.
2. The Trinity
We believe there is One and only One, True and Living God. We believe in the indivisible unity of the Godhead, yet existing in (3) separate persons; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. All equal in perfection. (1 Peter 1:2 / Mathew 28:19)
3. The Creation
We believe the Genesis account of Creation as the literal, historical account of the Creation by the Power and Word of God and the God head. We believe in the literal 24 hour day of Creation. (Genesis 1-2)
4. Man
We believe that man was created by a direct act of God and that all humankind is descended from Adam and Eve. In the beginning man was in complete harmony with his Creator. By man’s choice, man sinned against God and therefore brought sin in and upon the entire human race. (Genesis 3 and 4 / Romans 5:12)
5. Salvation
We believe that the Scriptures teach that Christ died for the whole of humankind, meaning every man, woman or child has the opportunity to receive and know Jesus Christ. We believe that the salvation of sinners is divinely initiated, wholly of grace and accomplished only through the mediation of the Son of God, namely Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift given freely by God and is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY apart from ANY and ALL human works, actions or merit. Salvation is offered freely to all those who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for all who believe. (John 3:16-17 / Ephesians 2:8-9)
6. The Church
We believe that the Scriptures teach that the Church of Jesus Christ began at Pentecost and will be completed at the time of the Rapture. We believe the church to have two aspects. The local church of which we are a part and the church “which is the body of Christ’ which is comprised of fellow believers and followers of Jesus Christ around the world. (Acts 2:1 / Acts 2:47)
7. The Ordinances
We believe the church has been commanded of Jesus Christ to observe two ordinances which are personal and individual baptism after salvation and The Lord’s Supper.
A. Baptism
We believe that Christian baptism is the single immersion, of one who has made a public declaration of faith (salvation), in water, fully submerged. We believe this is not a means of salvation but a figurative representation and symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, buried with Him in baptism, and raised to walk in the newness of life. We believe this to be a representation of the professing believer’s death to sin and his/her resurrection to a new life. (Mark 1:4 / Luke 3:3 / Romans 6:4 / 2 Corinthians 5:17 / Ephesians 4:5 / Colossians 2:12)
B. The Lord’s Supper
We believe that the Lord’s Supper (communion) is the commemoration and remembrance of His death until He returns for His church. We believe this commemoration should be preceded by individual, personal, serious and solemn self examination and prayerful confession of sin. We believe that communion is reserved for believers only. (Luke 22:14-20 / 1 Corinthians 11:24-34)
8. The Second Advent of Christ
We believe in the blessed hope and in the personal, imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe that He will return in the clouds and rapture His church prior to the 7 year tribulation period. We believe that at the conclusion of the tribulation period Jesus Christ will personally return to earth, visible and physical, with His saints in order to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel. (John 14:3 / James 5:7-8 / 1 Thessalonians 4:1-5:11 / )
9. Satan
We believe the Scriptures teach that there is a being known as satan, devil, lucifer, liar, murderer, thief, deceiver, god of this world, prince of the power of the air, etc. He is a fallen created angel who, through his own pride, became the enemy of the God, the Creator. Satan’s sole purpose is to deceive mankind, continually frustrate the children of God and ensnare man for his own ungodly and evil purposes. We believe that his efforts were defeated at Calvary by the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross and eventually satan will be condemned and confined to and in the Lake of Fire. (1 Chronicles 21:1 / Job 1:6-12 / Mathew 4:10 / Luke 22:31 / 2 Corinthians 2:11 / 2 Corinthians 11:14 / Revelation 12:9 / Revelation 20:2 / Acts 10:38 / Ephesians 6:11 / James 4:7 / 1 Peter 5:8)
10. Personal Separation
We believe that the Scriptures teach that every true believer, Christian, should be separated from this world, unto God. We believe that every true believer should walk in holiness, exhibiting Christian love. We believe that as we “walk” through this world we should do so with honesty, integrity, forgiveness and loving kindness. We believe that these can only be accomplished with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Humankind is not capable of producing these qualities consistently of his own merit. These should be evident in our “daily” walk and we should abstain form the very appearance of evil. (John 14:16 / John 14:26 / John 15:26 / John 16:7 / Ephesians 4:1 / Colossians 1:10 / 1 Thessalonians 2:12 / Galatians 5:22 / 1 Thessalonians 5:22)
11. Spiritual Separation
We believe that the Scriptures teach that every true believer should should separate himself from organizations which are contrary to Biblical truths. This should be practiced and exhibited with an attitude of devotion to God, humility and compassion. Also, displaying a genuine commitment to do God’s Kingdom work and evangelizing and winning the lost, then discipling those that accept the free gift of salvation. (Mathew 28:19 / Romans 12:1-2)
12. The Lord’s Day
We believe that Scripture teaches that there is a day set aside, separated for worship of God. We believe this to be Sunday and it is to be set aside to “assemble together” with like minded believers in the instruction of God’s Holy Word and to praise the Lord in worship and song, in spirit and truth. It is a day of rejoicing in the bodily Resurrection of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe that He alone is worthy of our time, talents and tithes in our effort to further the outreach of His kingdom. ( Exodus 20:8-11 / Hebrews 10:25 / Psalms 23:6 / Psalms 27:4 / Psalms 118:26 / Psalms 122:1)
13. Marriage
We believe that Scripture teaches the home was the first institution provided to man by God himself. We believe that marriage is a sacred relationship that is between a man and a woman. Marriage is used as a symbol that describes the relationship between Christ and His bride, the church. ( Genesis 1:27 / Genesis 2:18-25 / Ephesians 5:25 / Hebrews 13:4 / Revelation 19:7-9)
We believe that Scripture teaches men and women are spiritually equal in position before God, but that God has ordained distinct and separate spiritual functions for men and women in the home and the church. The husband is the spiritual leader in his home. They are to be the leaders in the church i.e pastor and deacons. ( Romans 3:23 / Romans 5:12 / 1 Corinthians 14:25 / Ephesians 5:22-25 / Colossians 3:16-19 / 1 Timothy 3:12 / Titus 2:1-5 / 1 Peter 3:1-7 / 1 Timothy 3 )
14. Divorce and Remarriage
We believe that Scripture teaches that God disapproves of and forbids divorce. God’s intention was and is that marriage is a sacred institution that is life long and is marriage until one spouse dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery, in Scripture, except under the grounds of fornication. Divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service inside the church. They can and are used of God for His Kingdom work and service. However these persons cannot be considered for office of pastor or deacon inside the church assembly. ( Mathew 5:27-32 / Mathew 19:9 / Mark 10:11-12 / 1 Corinthians 7:2 )
15. Human Sexuality
We believe that God has commanded that there be NO sexual intimacy or sexual activity engaged in outside of the sanctity of marriage between one man or one woman. We believe that the acts of homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful and ungodly perversions of the gift of sex God has given to husband and wife in the sanctity of marriage. We also believe that God forbids and disapproves of any attempt to alter one’s gender by medical surgery or appearance. ( Leviticus 18:22 / Deuteronomy 22:5 / Ezekiel 22:8-11 / Romans 1 and 2 )
16. Abortion
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child in a mothers womb is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject teachings that the abortions of pregnancies is an acceptable and godly practice. (Deuteronomy 18:9 / Ecclesiastes 5:18 / Psalms 139:13 / Jeremiah 1:5 / Exodus 21:22 / Hebrews 13:8)
17. Civil Government
We believe that Scripture teaches that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and order of human society. We believe that those in authority are to be prayed for and laws obeyed, unless they are contrary to the Word of God. Each and every person is subject to these authorities. All including those in positions of authority over us are answerable and accountable to God and governed by His Word. ( Hebrews 13:7 / Hebrews 13:17 / Hebrews 13:24 / Proverbs 21:1 )
18. Evangelism and Missions
We believe that it is our duty and privilege, as a follower and believer in Jesus Christ, individually and collectively as a church to endeavor with all prayer and supplications to make disciples of all nations. The new birth of man’s spirit by God’s Holy Spirit is evident in the birth of love for others. Mission work at home and abroad rests solely upon the spiritual necessity of the regenerated life. We are expressly and earnestly commanded throughout Scripture to win the lost to Christ by personal effort and by all other methods and means necessary that are in harmony with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This includes personal, spiritual and financial commitment to further the cause of Christ. (Mathew 28:19-20)
19. Religious Liberty
God and God alone is Lord of the conscience. He has left it free from doctrine and commandments of men which are contrary to His Word and His Commandments. The right to worship and carry out God’s work should not be hindered, in any way, by the state. ( Luke 20:25 )
20. Giving
We believe that Scripture teaches that each and every Christian, as a steward of the portion of God’s wealth that has been entrusted to him or her, is obligated and commanded by God to financially support his local storehouse, assembly and church. We believe that the tithe is established, of God, as a basis for meeting the financial needs of the church and God’s ministries. We also believe that Christians should give freely and cheerfully, above their tithes, sacrificial offerings of time, talents and financial contributions to the Lord and His Kingdom work.
We believe that once a Christian has made his tithe he/she has fulfilled their obligation to tithe “that portion”. The use and designation of the finances falls on the church leadership, who is accountable to God for the direction they chose in distributing the finances showing good, godly stewardship of the Lord’s money. We believe that God in no way needs us to fulfill His Sovereign plan but He has established these as a means of teaching us and our outward expression of obedience to Him. ( Genesis 14:20 / Genesis 28:22 / Leviticus 27:30 / Malachi 3:7-12 / Luke 18:11-14 / 2 Corinthians 8 / 2 Corinthians 9 / Hebrews 7:1 )
